Clay Money ran his IMCA Modified winning streak to three on opening night at Hays before Daniel Gottschalk started a streak of his own on night two of the Mike "Huey" Huges Sunflower Classic Memorial Race presented by Nutrien Ag Solutions, June 13-14, 2020.

Money won the make-up feature from May 24 before taking Saturday's $1,000 checkers.  Gottschalk scored his first win of the season, also worth $1,000 on Sunday at the track that's been very good to him in the past.

Defending Kansas State Champion Money made all the right changes in setup between Saturday race programs, leading all 20 laps and pulling away from Eddie Belec following a late caution.

"I just did my best to stay smooth and straight.  The middle (groove) was best for me and that's where I ran" he said.  "It was good weekend for us.  We can't complain at all"

Ricky Alvarado, John Hansen and Cody Gearhart rounded out the top five.

Gottschalk had been involved in an early caution and became a DNF on Saturday.  He started second on Sunday, took over the lead when Tanner Black pulled off and said see-ya.

The two-time defending track champion and winner of the big Fall Nationals show last October, Gottschalk raced with lapped traffic before crossing the striped ahead of Tyler Frye, Kyle Rohleder, Money and Steven Bowers, Jr.

"This is where I started racing.  This is my home track", he said.  "There was a lot of talent here so it feels good to keep the win local."

Wins for Money and Gottschalk puts them on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot.

IMCA Sunoco Stock Car winners were Tyler Tipton and Trenton Kleweno. Garrett Hager and Zach Olmstead topped IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock features.

Luke Stallbaumer and Blaine Walt were best in Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod features and Mach-1 Sport Compact checkers flew for Tim Bouchey and Toby Schwien, who'd started ninth on the Sunday grid.
